Peak to Powderkeg - Saturday 11th October
The Alphine Triathlon with a twist.
The Peak to Powderkeg is a multi sport race from the top of Turoa Ski Field down to the infamous Powderkeg Restaurant and Bar. Competitors ski or snow board to the Turoa Plaza, run approximately 4kms to the 12.5km road marker and then cycle o the bottom of the Mountain Road where they drop there bike, sprint into the Powderhorn carpark and skull a beer. (youth options available)
An empty vessel completes the race.

The Peak to Powderkeg is a multi sport race from the top of Turoa Ski Field operated by Ruapehu Alpine Lifts to the bottom of the Mountain Road, and The infamous Powderkeg Restaurant & Bar carpark.

Competitors ski or snowboard to the Turoa Plaza, run approximately 4 kms to the 12.5 km road marker and then cycle to the bottom of the Mountain Road where they drop their bike, sprint into the Powderhorn car park and scull a beer (youths scull lemonade).

Ruapehu Open Golf Tournament 2014


Join us at the scenic Waimarino Golf Course for the 2014 Ruapehu Open.
The competition is 27 holes (18 holes then a break for lunch, followed by the last 9 holes) and is designed for all levels of handicaps.
Entrees are limited to 120 players so register now.

DECEMBER

The Goat Adventure Run - 6th December 2014

The Goat Alpine Adventure run is an exhilarating, challenging, yet achievable alpine run traversing the side of spectacular Mt Ruapehu.

Course Description 

The course measures 20 kms of mountainous terrain with ascents, descents, twists and turns starting at the Whakapapa Ski Area and finished at Turoa Ski Area. The Goat is not designed as a walking event, participants must enter with the intention of running a majority of the distance.

JANUARY

Tussock Traverse - 24th January 2015

The Tussock Traverse offers both keen trail runners and walkers, as well as people new to the excitement of off-road adventures, one of the most scenic and varied courses in New Zealand.

The event course cuts across the heart of the World Heritage Tongariro National Park, starting off at the Desert Road on the Eastern side of the Park and takes in the Rangipo Desert and Waihohonu traverse track before finishing at the Chateau Tongariro in Whakapapa to the West.
